girlhouse
Following the enormous radio and playlist success behind lead singles “loaded gun,” "the fatalist," and "knuckle tattoo" (BBC Radio 1, EARMILK, Spotify Fresh Finds Rock cover and Tidal's Rising Artist of the Week), fast-rising bedroom pop artist girlhouse (aka Lauren Luiz) has released her debut ep, the girlhouse ep! Luiz pursued acting in NY in her early twenties – appearing in Grimm and the sign-language version of Spring Awakening (which brought her everywhere from Broadway to the White House) and after returning to LA, she and friends Tyler Thompson and Zach DeGaetano formed the successful folk pop band WILD. Last year’s lockdown allowed Luiz to explore her solo music, and with the production help of Thompson, girlhouse was formed. Taking cues from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Snail Mail, her debut EP introduces the world to her fresh and euphoric sound, and tells the tales of her time living in LA and the relationships she nurtured along the way. Speaking about the new EP, Luiz said, “This EP follows my story of landing in LA and finding out exactly how ignorant I was to the real world; whether that be relationships, men in general, career, sex, friendships, or battling mental illness and dealing with trauma, it all felt new to me.” Now living in Nashville, Luiz's personal life continues to inspire and influence her music with the girlhouse EP (out now), and plans for US/UK touring and more music to round out 2021.
